Had a new well dug, but water not coming in?

We had a new well dug about 1 1/2 months ago. My husband has been in charge, but I am trying to troubleshoot, so I do not have all specifics. They drilled down 460' for 1 gal per minute. I noticed immediately much noise coming from a commode tank in 1 bathroom after flushing. Nothing from other commode or faucets. A week ago, was doing a load of clothes and it started sputtering, etc. and I was brushing my teeth and water quit running. We turned off the washer and we later has some water coming, along with all this muck. My husband called the contractor and he came out the next day and my husband flushed all the lines and seemed like all was ok again. This weekend my husband said no water was coming to the house and he had me turn on the pump, pressure was 35 to start and I heard a couple gurgles, then nothing, but pressure went up to about 38. After several minutes turned pump back off. Contractor will come again tomorrow and can't understand what is happening. Help!
